Our Focus………what drives us?
Our focus is clearly stated in our trust deed as we are a registered charitable trust in New Zealand, therefore, we must adhere to the New Zealand legal jurisdiction and obligations.
Our key objectives, as stated in our trust deed, and lodged with the Charitable Societies Register of New Zealand, are as follows:
(a) to promote and uphold the legacy of Rewi Alley throughout New Zealand and China and
(b) to protect the name and legacy of Rewi Alley from any use or exploitation for commercial, political or personal gain or advantage and
(c) to foster and encourage education, both in New Zealand and China, along with extensive research, study and understanding of Rewi Alley’s life, activities, and achievements both in New Zealand and China through:
i. The wide dissemination of educational books, magazines, pamphlets about Rewi Alley and
ii. The production and promotion of educational movies, videos, and other electronic media about Rewi Alley and his life and times both in New Zealand and China and
iii. The holding of public and private events about Rewi Alley and his life and times both in New Zealand and China and
iv. The holding of speech, essay, and other competitions about Rewi Alley and his life and times both in New Zealand and China and
v: The holding of art, cultural and general educational exhibitions about Rewi Alley and his life and times both in New Zealand and China.
(d) To establish, acquire, maintain, and conduct facilities both in New Zealand and China for the promotion Rewi Alley’s legacy and
(e) To afford those people (especially youth and students of all levels) who desire to have the opportunity to participate in any or all educational activities promoted by the foundation and
(f) To enhance the status of Rewi Alley and his legacy at every level of society both in New Zealand and China and
(g) To do all such things as necessary or that are conducive to attain all of the above objects or any one of them.
